Job Summary
Melds exists because Sequent refused to let commodity markets dictate its input costs. We operate a 126,000-square-foot reprocessing facility in Fletcher, North Carolina, transforming post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste into certified, production-grade polypropylene and polyethylene resins. Our output feeds directly into Kreate's manufacturing network. No broker, no intermediary, no volatility. The cycle starts here.
You will own and optimize our extrusion and compounding lines. You work on the equipment that turns waste into material, and that material into the foundation of a $600M platform. This is not a monitoring role. You will improve throughput, reduce scrap, and push our capacity toward 48 million pounds annually.
Responsabilities
Own process parameters for all extrusion and compounding lines, including screw design, temperature profiles, feed rates, and pelletizing output
Troubleshoot production issues in real time on the floor. Not from a desk. Not from a report.
Lead capacity improvement projects targeting throughput increases aligned with the facility's growth plan
Collaborate with the quality lab to ensure every batch meets ASTM and ISO specifications and ships with a full Certificate of Analysis
Support equipment commissioning for new polystar extruders, auto screen changers, and pelletizing systems as they come online
Document process changes and develop SOPs that any operator can follow at 2 a.m.
Requisites
10+ years of process engineering experience in plastics extrusion, compounding, or resin reprocessing
Hands-on knowledge of twin-screw and single-screw extrusion systems
Familiarity with recycled resin processing, including contamination management, melt flow variability, and color matching
ASTM/ISO testing knowledge preferred
BS in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience
You have worked in a plant. You have worn steel toes. This is not optional.
Location
U.S / On-site
Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Health, dental, and vision coverage
401(k) with company match
Paid time off and company holidays
Work in a modern, purpose-built facility opened in 2022 with significant investment in new equipment
